A beautiful summer garden wedding in the winelands is always such a treat; especially for couples living abroad. So when the weather man predicted a 35 degree day for January 3rd, our London based couple Cassie and Brendon were in for a perfect day. The couple decided on Diemersfontein in Wellington to host their wedding, they wanted rolling lawns and beautiful views which is exactly what the venue had to offer.
A quaint alcove in the garden shaded by old tress was the setting for the ceremony. Instead of a traditional arch or gazebo we used the tress to hang big white ball lanterns at different heights which hovered above the couple as they said their “ I do’s”. Rustic country shepherds hooks lined the aisle and were adorned with beautiful posies of flowers to bring in the purple that Cassie loves. A very special moment which brought a tear to many an eye was when Brendon’s niece walked down the aisle holding a sign saying “Uncle Bren, here comes your bride”, just before Cassie walked down the aisle with her dad.
While the couple popped off for their photos guests were able to hydrate themselves with Pimms cocktails served in jam jars. While enjoying delicious canapés, guests had their own photo opportunity. Empty frames were hung off the branch of a tree and made for a unique country style photo booth area.
The reception area was set up under a white Bedouin tent on the vast lawn area of the estate. Purples, whites and hints of silver made up the colour pallet for the day. A mixture of silver and glass vases were used which were all placed on a flowerboard to raise the flower arrangements which allowed them to be noticed more and gave guests more space on their table. A purple water glass was brought in to add that extra pop of colour to the table. Lighting is always so important when hosting an event under a Bedouin tent. For Cassie and Brendon we created clusters of large lampshades in different sizes, shapes and fabrics to hang down from the tent. This had a marvellous visual impact but also created the ambient lighting which was needed in the tent. Personalised placemats with the menu printed on it added a personal touch to the table setting. We placed every guests name tag on a sparkler which would later on in the evening add a bit of sparkle around the couple while they danced.
The dancefloor was placed in the middle of the tent with long banquet style tables surrounding it, it was important for Cassie and Brendon that everyone feel included and had a great view of the dancefloor. Guests were absolutely fantastic in getting the party started. Everyone was up on their feet and danced the night away. It is always such a joy seeing a couple along with their friends and family having such a great time and so much fun. This jovial crowd were unbelievable and really shared in the spirit of celebration; so much so that they put up quite the fight when music ended! An after party at the pool was then enjoyed by the die-hards and we believe they continued to celebrate with Cassie and Brendon into the early hours of the next day.
It was such a pleasure being able to make Cassie and Brendon’s dream wedding come to life and we wish them all the love and happiness in the world for their future together.
We must thank Yvette Gilbert for capturing this special wedding day so beautifully, your work is always so amazing.
