Today we have a look back to one of our favourite corporate events of 2012, The Diners Club Wine Maker of the Year Awards which was held at the always impressive Conservatory in Franschhoek.
The theme for the awards dinner was aptly, ‘Clearly the Best’ so we played on that idea and made use of beautiful crystal, clear vases and silver touches. We decided to go for minimal but striking pieces for this event and created this look by using a combination of single stem lilies, large king protea heads and classic white rose balls.
When using long banquet tables it is important to create texture by using varying heights of décor items. We achieved this by having a mix of low and high vases as well as candle holders in different heights. Slick white flower boards were used as the platform for all the floral pieces; this created an effective cluster of all the décor.
A bold feature to the tables was the use of a large black water glass. This created a wonderful pop to the tables. To tie in with the essence of the evening, which was wine, we created a chandelier feature by hanging cut crystal wine glasses from existing light fixtures in the venue. We were lucky enough to have a fabulous weather evening in Franschhoek and guests were able to enjoy elegant chaise lounge pockets under a majestic oak tree donned with opulent crystal chandeliers.
We loved everything about this event, from the amazing setting, to the modern décor, sophisticated menu and of course the award winning wine. This was truly an amazing event to style and is a look that we are so proud of.
